Points to Determine If Renovation is Necessary

Poste date: Friday, May 3, 2024

About older apartments, the approximate age of the apartment and each facility is a good indicator of whether renovation should be done. For your comfortable and clean home, please use the following information as a reference for making your renovation plan to determine when it is desirable to renovate.

Wall and ceiling cloth / Floor (wooden floor)

After 5 years, stains and partial damage become noticeable; after 10 years, discoloration and deterioration can be seen; and after 15 years, mold and corrosion due to condensation can occur. 10 to 15 years is the recommended replacement time.

Kitchen

After 5 years, maintenance is required as faucet fittings and gaskets begin to deteriorate over time; after 10 years, defects of equipment such as cookstove, dishwasher, and exhaust fan may begin to appear; after 15 years, the useful life of equipment comes to an end, so 15 to 20 years is the recommended replacement time.

Bathroom (Prefabricated bathroom)

After 10 years, problems such as malfunctioning bathroom dryers and clogged faucets and shower heads are more likely to occur. In addition, caulking and gaskets can deteriorate, rust corrode, discolor, and stain. 15 to 20 years is the recommended replacement time.

Washroom

After 5 years, maintenance is required as faucet fittings and gaskets begin to fail due to age-related deterioration. It is time to replace the washstand when it shows cracks or leaks of the washbowl or damage to the cabinet section, and 15 to 20 years is a good time to replace it.

Toilet

The gaskets may deteriorate after about 5 years, so maintenance is required. The durability of electric bidet toilet seat is about 10 years. In consideration of the durability of the toilet bowl as well, replacement is recommended after 15 to 20 years.

If an apartment is more than 20 years old and has never been renovated, it is time to be concerned about the deterioration of equipment in the kitchen, bathroom, toilet, etc., even if no problems have occurred so far. We recommend that you consider an overall renovation that includes the replacement of equipment.
