Food Drive by Plaza Homes' Employees
Plaza Homes, Ltd. (Food Bank Azabu) held an in-house food drive and donated 45.95 kg of food to Food Bank Meguro, a Tokyo-based support organization for the needy. A food drive is an activity in which people bring surplus food from their homes, workplaces, schools, etc., and collectively donate it to welfare facilities, children's cafeterias, and those in need.
On July 23 (Sun.), we brought the collected food items to Food Bank Meguro's free food distribution site and handed them over to Mr. Hirase, the representative of Food Bank Meguro. He told us that many families were having a hard time due to the lack of school lunches because of the summer vacation, and that the number of families in need was increasing due to soaring prices.
Plaza Homes has started activities to support the needy by donating food as part of its CSR business.
As a first step, employees held a food drive and collected rice, pasta, somen noodles, canned food, retort-pouch food, instant noodles, granola, coffee, sweets, vegetables, etc. from many employees.
Since it was the time of year for the mid-year gift, we also collected a lot of jelly and yokan (bean jelly).
Some employees, who did not have any surplus food at home, purchased and brought items they imagined would be appreciated by the families to whom they would distribute the items.
In order to help in any way we can, we have set up a food collection counter on the first floor of our store and will continue to hold food drives within the company.
