Minato-ku covering Takanawa, Mita, Shiba
It is a luxurious residential area spreading around the hilly area from the west of JR Shinagawa Station towards Tamachi Station. Many famous hotels gather here. The JR train lines and the Toei Asakusa Line offer a good access to many areas within Tokyo. In addition, Haneda Airport and Yokohama area can be reached easily by taking the Keihin Kyuko Line. Since Shinkansen (bullet trains) stops at JR Shinagawa Station, it is very convenient to go to the western part of Japan such as Osaka. Furthermore, there is a plan to add a new train station on the JR Yamanote line between JR Shinagawa station and Tamachi station around the Sengakuji temple. Many universities including Keio University and Meiji Gakuin University as well as famous schools are situated in the area. Tokyo International School is also located in Mita. The residential area lying from Takanawa to Mita is a refined area dotted with many traditional houses. Along the main streets, hotel-like high-rise apartments are emerging.
