Chiyoda-ku, containing the Imperial Palace, the Diet Building and Government offices, is the center of Japan. The railway network is extended to various provinces from Tokyo Station adjacent to Marunouchi office quarter. Pretty cherry blossoms bloom all around the outer moat surrounding the Imperial Place in spring time, and people may enjoy jogging along the arcade of cherry blossoms.
Name of districts in
Chiyoda-ku.
Kioicho, Kojimachi, Ichibancho, Otemachi, Marunouchi, Hibiya, Nagatacho, Kasumigaseki, Kanda, etc.
These areas have been the traditional favorites of European residents. The French School, (Lycee Franco-Japonais) and EU are located here. Within minutes of Tokyo and Shinjuku Stations, these areas are convenient to all business districts. The Yurakucho, Maranouchi and Namboku lines link most other parts of the city. These neighborhoods are distinctively charming with many, well-priced housing options, although apartments have replaced many single family homes. The shopping districts serving these areas are traditionally Japanese with little English spoken, so this may add some level of difficulty for new arrivals to Japan. (Note: St. Mary's school buses do not service this area.)
